Released as a vending machine–exclusive on October 7, 2025, this is "KIRIN MET'S THE ENERGY," an energy drink from the Met's lineup.

This energy drink is a spinoff from the "KIRIN MET'S" brand. According to the press release, it is positioned as "an energy drink for fully enjoying new challenges." The package design has a really nice atmosphere as well. So what does it actually taste like? Let’s take a closer look and dive into the review.

Once opened, a sweet and gentle classic-style aroma spreads, reminiscent of vanilla, followed by a medicinal, chemical-like note. Now, let’s take a sip.

On the palate, a refreshing sweet-and-sour classic-style flavor expands first, then a lightly bitter chemical nuance gradually wraps around it with a slight delay. A clean acidity lingers on the finish along with the chemical aroma.

The chemical character is actually low-impact compared to the first impression when you start drinking it. You quickly get used to it, and the balance between the sweet-and-sour classic-style flavor and the chemical aroma is exceptionally well tuned. As a result, it has such a natural drinkability that you can easily finish the entire 250 ml.

The flavor is reminiscent of the original Rockstar from before the PepsiCo acquisition, but slightly milder, and it may turn out to be surprisingly addictive for some people.

The balance of each design element is well executed, and the background gradient behind "Kirin Mets The Energy" is also beautifully done.

The Japanese font feels slightly cheap, and without it, the design could have been even more refined.

The back of the can uses the same color scheme as the front, maintaining a cohesive look, and it also features an energy poem.

The overall design is so well crafted that it feels like a waste for this to end as a one-off, vending-machine-exclusive product. It makes me want to see a future where colorful flavor variations are released while keeping this same design.
