Carabao is a top energy drink brand from Thailand. Since it is widely distributed throughout Southeast Asia, you may have seen it during your overseas travels.
This time, I will mainly review the Carabao Original purchased in Malaysia, which is exported from Thailand to various countries.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 8,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of Carabao ENERGY DRINK
When opened, a sweet and sour fruity classic flavor aroma spreads. The contents are amber with an orange tint, hinting at a rich taste. Now, let me try it.
Upon tasting, I was pleasantly surprised by the smooth sweetness and a gentle, subtle sourness that makes it easy to drink even without carbonation.
A faint sweet and rich banana-like flavor lingers, yet there is no excessive sugary harshness or chemical taste, making it fruitier and more enjoyable than I expected.
The aftertaste is lighter than expected and does not linger, highlighting an ease of drinking that belies the lack of carbonation.
Although it contains a large amount of sugar typical of Southeast Asian energy drinks, it somehow doesn’t have the intense sweetness that causes heartburn, making Carabao easy to drink even for foreigners.
Energy Ingredients of Carabao ENERGY DRINK
Contains 80mg caffeine and 1000mg taurine.
The sugar content is 43g per 250ml, nearly double that of a typical full-sugar energy drink. This is normal in Southeast Asia, but excessive sugar intake not only leads to unnecessary calorie consumption but also causes blood sugar spikes, placing a heavy burden on the body, so it is important to be cautious about drinking too much.

Design of Carabao ENERGY DRINK
The brand color is a deep green, and the logo features the bones of a water buffalo (Carabao).
By the way, Red Bull uses the "wild bull" while Carabao’s brand image is the "water buffalo," and this difference in motif between the two bulls is something many foreigners might not know.
This time, I reviewed the Carabao I bought in Malaysia in 2025.
It was a limited edition design for the "Carabao Cup" campaign. I also got the exact same design of Carabao in Vietnam a few years ago when I visited there.
Here are some past collaboration cans that were released.
Carabao frequently runs campaigns, and each time, campaign-specific design cans are released like this.
Another characteristic of Carabao is that they also print designs on the can tops.
Even though the can manufacturer and export destination country are the same, there are interesting differences such as tab shapes. The shape of the cans has changed depending on the purchase period.
Since products exported from Thailand are distributed across Southeast Asian countries, collecting Carabao cans sold in each country while traveling around Southeast Asia could be a fun experience.
