Evangelion Sprint Energy Drink Apple Blast

This is a review of the Apple Blast flavor from the Evangelion 30th Anniversary collaboration energy drink, released on August 6, 2025, at GS25, a convenience store chain in South Korea.
This time, it seems to be a collaboration with the South Korean energy drink brand Sprint, so the ingredients differ slightly from the energy drinks previously released by GS25.
Now, let's take a closer look at the Evangelion Sprint Energy Drink Apple Blast.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 8,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of Evangelion Sprint Energy Drink Apple Blast
When opened, it releases a refreshing, sweet aroma reminiscent of apple candy. From the scent alone, you can expect a surprisingly full-bodied apple flavor for a zero-sugar drink. Let's give it a try.

On the palate, it tastes like a light, sweet-and-tart apple cider, with a smooth texture and a lingering apple aroma that makes for a refreshing experience.
Being zero sugar, the apple flavor is mild, and it lacks the juicy taste of real fruit. The artificial sweetener taste is fairly restrained, making it acceptable for most people.
With its apple candy flavor and zero-sugar aftertaste, the taste can feel a bit monotonous, and 500ml might be slightly too much. It’s not unpleasant, but the flavor may become tiring halfway through.
Energy Ingredients of Evangelion Sprint Energy Drink Apple Blast

It contains 250mg of caffeine, 1000mg of taurine, 30mg of magnesium, and guarana.
A notable feature is its higher caffeine content compared to the energy drinks previously released by GS25. The difference in ingredients is likely because this edition is a collaboration with the energy drink brand Sprint.
Design of Evangelion Sprint Energy Drink Apple Blast

The design is distinctly Evangelion, featuring Unit-02 prominently against a red base. The single-color red theme also effectively conveys the apple flavor.
The back of the can lists the ingredients in the same layout used for previous GS25 energy drinks.

This release is also a collaboration with the South Korean energy drink brand “Sprint,” so it features the “SPRINT x EVANGELION” branding.
Compared to the four energy drinks GS25 has released before, the two Evangelion × Sprint collaboration drinks feel slightly lower in flavor quality. It’s unclear whether this is due to the Sprint collaboration or simply because the flavor itself didn’t suit some tastes.

I expect GS25 will continue releasing limited-edition energy drinks regularly, so I’m looking forward to a future edition fully supervised by GS25 alone.
