Evangelion Sprint Energy Drink Lemon Boost

This is a review of the "Evangelion Sprint Energy Drink Lemon Boost", released on August 6, 2025, at GS25, a convenience store chain in South Korea, as part of the Evangelion 30th Anniversary collaboration.
This time, it also seems to be a collaboration with the Korean energy drink brand "Sprint", and its ingredients differ slightly from the energy drinks previously released by GS25.
Let’s take a closer look at the "Evangelion Sprint Energy Drink Lemon Boost".

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 8,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of Evangelion Sprint Energy Drink Lemon Boost
When opened, a refreshing citrus aroma reminiscent of lime, lemon, and grapefruit spreads out, giving off the impression of a fresh limeade. Let’s give it a taste.

The first sip reveals a moderately sour, crisp limeade flavor with a light, sugar-free profile.
Among sugar-free citrus flavors, this one manages to suppress the unpleasantness often caused by artificial sweeteners. However, I still noticed a faint aftertaste typical of artificial sweeteners lingering in the background.
GS25’s previous sugar-free energy drinks generally didn’t feel “sugar-free,” but this Evangelion Lemon Boost, with its somewhat weak lime and lemon flavor, ends up emphasizing that thin and light aftertaste unique to artificial sweeteners.
Even when served over ice, the impression of the artificial sweetness didn’t change.

The artificial sweetener balance feels slightly rough. It’s not bad, but it’s not something I’d feel compelled to buy again.
Energy Ingredients of Evangelion Sprint Energy Drink Lemon Boost

Contains 250mg of caffeine, 1000mg of taurine, 30mg of magnesium, and guarana extract. Among the energy drinks released by GS25 so far, this one has the highest caffeine content.
Design of Evangelion Sprint Energy Drink Lemon Boost

The "Evangelion Sprint Energy Drink Lemon Boost" features an eye-catching design with Unit-01 printed on a green can. The green background color and the lemon & lime flavor theme match well, making this a highly refined collaboration design overall.

On the back, it lists the unique “SPRINT FORMULA” energy blend, which differs from the typical GS25 energy drink compositions.
As the back label shows, while it’s sold under GS25, it’s actually a collaboration energy drink between the Korean brand “Sprint” and “Evangelion.”

The clear difference in the “sugar-free taste” between GS25’s regular energy drinks and this Evangelion edition might be due to Sprint Energy Drink’s own unique quality standards being applied.
