MONSTER ENERGY SUPER FUEL MEAN GREEN
This is a review of the non-carbonated sports drink type “MONSTER ENERGY SUPER FUEL MEAN GREEN,” released in Poland in 2021. When I visited Poland for the first time in 2023, this series had already been discontinued, and it was quite a challenge to find one.
Since the launch of the non-carbonated sports drink series as the “Hydro Series” in the United States in 2017, similar sports drinks have been released in many countries around the world, but they were all packaged in PET bottles.
The Polish version reviewed here comes in a 568ml big-size can — a rare format that is hardly seen in other countries (though a can version was also released in Ireland).

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 8,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of MONSTER ENERGY SUPER FUEL MEAN GREEN
Upon opening the can, the aroma of citrus fruits such as lime and lemon spreads out. The contents reveal a beautiful, glowing lime green color. Now, let’s give it a try.
When I take a sip, a refreshing sweetness spreads across my palate with this non-carbonated lemon-lime flavor, and the tartness lingers only subtly in the aftertaste. It’s characterized by a fresh, hydrating quality that makes it easy to drink in big gulps.
The refreshing notes of lemon and lime are well-recreated through the aroma and the gentle tang in the aftertaste, resulting in a clear, smooth, and mild limeade-like flavor.
Although MONSTER ENERGY SUPER FUEL is marketed as a sports drink series, this bright limeade flavor is so outstanding that I almost feel it’s too good to chug down during exercise.
Those who prefer rich and intense energy drinks may find it a bit lacking, but if you enjoy the equally non-carbonated Rehab series, MONSTER ENERGY SUPER FUEL MEAN GREEN will be a perfect choice. It’s the kind of drink you’ll want to enjoy during a slow, relaxing moment.
Energy Ingredients of MONSTER ENERGY SUPER FUEL MEAN GREEN
Contains 170mg of caffeine and 908mg of BCAAs. While it does contain sugars, it is notable for being low-calorie at just 64kcal.
Design of MONSTER ENERGY SUPER FUEL MEAN GREEN
It comes in a 568ml tall can. The entire top of the can is unified in black, with a large, three-dimensional Monster Energy logo that looks as if it was carved out of metal.
This distinctive logo design has been used for sports drink-type products since the Hydro Series was launched in the United States in 2017, and has been carried on to the present.
While sports drink-type products have generally been sold in PET bottles, the ones reviewed here from Poland and Ireland are exceptions, being offered in 568ml tall cans.
On the back, a row of icons typical of sports drinks can be found.
These icons, used across the Monster Energy series and its sub-brands, tend to look rather cringe-worthy.
I feel that with a more refined icon design and better layout balance, the appearance would better match its premium price.
