Released in February 2025. The third flavor in the ROCKSTAR BOOM series has arrived. This is a review of ROCKSTAR BOOM PIÑA COLADA, inspired by the cocktail Piña Colada.

In the past, the American Rockstar series featured a Piña Colada flavor called "ROCKSTAR PINA COLADA (2015)", and a similar product (ROCKSTAR FREEZE PINEAPPLE & COCONUT) was sold in Europe.

The major difference between the previously released ROCKSTAR PINA COLADA and this new ROCKSTAR BOOM PIÑA COLADA is the inclusion of skim milk and cream, common to the ROCKSTAR BOOM series. Will these two ingredients change the taste of the Piña Colada? Let me try it right away.

Upon tasting, a rich Piña Colada flavor fills my mouth, characterized by a sweet and milky coconut as the main flavor, with a refreshing pineapple fruit aftertaste.

True to Rockstar’s style, it contains a staggering 69g of sugar. However, the taste is light, fresh, and fruity, which doesn’t make it feel that way.

The pineapple’s characteristic acidity is gently wrapped by the milky taste and texture from the skim milk and cream, creating a natural and authentic drinking experience.

This smooth and soft mouthfeel is a signature feature unique to the ROCKSTAR BOOM series, which contains skim milk and cream. Developing the Piña Colada flavor as part of the ROCKSTAR BOOM series was a perfect decision. There are hardly any Piña Colada flavors this delicious.

Recently, the pineapple & coconut mixed flavor "ROCKSTAR RECOVERY PINEAPPLE COCONUT" did not quite feel like Piña Colada, and I believe many people were waiting for the taste of the 2015 "ROCKSTAR PINA COLADA."

ROCKSTAR BOOM PIÑA COLADA is undoubtedly the ultimate Piña Colada flavor that will satisfy even those who once gave the highest rating to the 2015 ROCKSTAR PINA COLADA.

It is no exaggeration to say that this uniquely rich drinking experience could only be achieved by the ROCKSTAR BOOM series, and apart from the large amount of sugar included, it ranks among the top-tasting Rockstar series released in recent years. I gave it an overall rating of 5.

With the release of ROCKSTAR BOOM PIÑA COLADA, the ROCKSTAR series design has undergone a major change.

The previously oversized big star has been reduced in size, creating more blank space and making the background more visible.

The flavor name is now placed small at the top of the can, making it easier to identify.

However, the important brand name "ROCKSTAR" remains pushed to the side of the can. Below the star, for some reason, the catchphrase "SUSTAINS MIND-BODY ENERGY" is placed. Are they trying to push this catchphrase more than the brand name? Is it really that important?

Though the design has improved considerably compared to the previous nightmare-like design, there is still room for improvement as a product design. PepsiCo has many beverage brands with decent designs, so it’s puzzling why only Rockstar is struggling... I hope that by 2026, the design returns to a proper style like it was 20 years ago.
