In January 2023, the C4 SMART ENERGY series was relaunched in 355ml slim cans with three flavors simultaneously. The flavor I'm reviewing this time is C4 SMART ENERGY BLOOD ORANGE YUZU.

When opened, a citrusy, bitter fragrance of citrus fruits spreads. There is a slight powdery scent, typical of C4, which is noticeable, but... let's take a sip.

As I expected from the scent, there is also a slight chemical aftertaste, which lingers and is reminiscent of the powdery flavor typical of C4. This gives it a somewhat unpleasant aftertaste, which feels like it disrupts the complex citrus fruit mix flavor.

On the other hand, if it was intentionally made to enjoy the chemical, supplement-like flavor rather than a natural blood orange and yuzu taste, it could be said to successfully recreate a chemical supplement flavor both in taste and scent.

It is interesting to see this hardcore fitness energy drink brand entering the young, health-conscious scene, which was pioneered by CELSIUS.

Consequently, other major brands besides C4 have started releasing new 355ml products, and it is clear that the success of CELSIUS is the driving force behind this trend.

While C4 maintains its original series in the 473ml size, it seems to be testing the revamped slim-can C4 SMART ENERGY as a series targeting a more health-conscious crowd. I'm looking forward to more flavor expansions in the future.
