ENERZ MELON

Posted on June 17, 2025 | Last updated August 10, 2025

ENERZ MELON
This is the melon flavor of “ENERZ,” a rare low-carb type of energy drink in Vietnam, released in 2024.

As those who read EnergyDrinkMania’s reviews may already know, energy drinks in Vietnam are known for having some of the highest sugar content in the world. In contrast, this ENERZ stands apart from conventional Vietnamese products, featuring a North American–style low-carb profile designed with Gen Z in mind.

That said, considering that the rich sweetness from generous sugar content is part of the charm in the Vietnamese market, I suspect they intentionally chose to keep it “low-carb” rather than going completely sugar-free. Now, let’s take a closer look at its flavor, sugar content, and more.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 8,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.

Flavor of ENERZ MELON

When opened, a sweet and refreshing aroma of apple flesh gently spreads, and when poured into a glass, a sweeter, silky, and juicy melon flesh scent fills the air. I was surprised by how realistic the melon flavoring is. Now, let's give it a taste.
Flavor of ENERZ MELON
When sipped, a moderately sweet flavor characteristic of melon flesh spreads in the mouth.

The apple scent detected upon opening emerges as a rich sweetness, like grated apple, beneath the melon flavor, and a subtle apple aftertaste lingers.

The sweetness does not replicate the dense sugar content typical of Japanese melon flavors; rather, this contributes to a more authentic melon flesh taste.

It is best enjoyed chilled. As the freshness of the juice diminishes at room temperature, I recommend drinking it while cold.

Energy Ingredients of ENERZ MELON

Energy Ingredients of ENERZ MELON
Contains 96mg caffeine, 1280mg taurine, and 64mg choline.

It includes 1% apple juice.

ENERZ prominently promotes “70% sugar reduction” as its low-sugar feature. However, it actually contains about 25g of sugar, and regardless of the comparison target, considering the sugar content of typical full-sugar energy drinks, the claim of “70% reduction” feels somewhat exaggerated. With 25g of sugar in a 320ml can, the amount is close to that of a regular full-sugar product, so it is hard to call it truly low-sugar.

That said, many Southeast Asian energy drinks contain about three times the sugar of ENERZ MELON, so comparatively, it falls into the relatively low-sugar category in the region.

Design of ENERZ MELON

Design of ENERZ MELON
The illustration of an erupting volcano feels somewhat cheap, but the bright melon green flavor color and the brand logo’s thick outline stand out, creating an impactful design that catches the eye on the shelf.

The flavor image is easy to understand, and the flat illustration blends well with the overall design.
Design of ENERZ MELON
The “Z” in the brand name “ENERZ” is said to emphasize that this energy drink is even more targeted toward Generation Z than others.

Design of ENERZ MELON
The two products released on the same day feature colorful and impactful designs that feel fresh and different from the typical image of Vietnamese energy drinks.

Design of ENERZ MELON
Southeast Asian energy drinks usually come in simple colors such as red, yellow, Red Bull’s gold, or Carabao’s green. In contrast, the colorful and bright image of the ENERZ series creates a completely different atmosphere on the shelf.

It clearly conveys the intention to differentiate from conventional Southeast Asian energy drinks and to develop new products targeting Generation Z.
