In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 8,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.

Flavor of MUSASHI ENERGY WATERMELON

Upon opening the can, a sweet melon-like aroma bursts out. It doesn’t have that distinctive green scent of watermelon—instead, the smell is more like the juicy sweetness of melon flesh. Now, let’s take a sip.
Flavor of MUSASHI ENERGY WATERMELON
As I take a sip, a light sweetness spreads across my palate, followed by a tangy aftertaste reminiscent of refreshing green apple.

Although the product is labeled as "watermelon" flavor, even when I try to imagine the taste of watermelon, it still comes across as a juicy sour apple flavor.

If I really try to convince myself it’s watermelon, I might be able to detect a very faint watermelon-like nuance... maybe.

Energy Ingredients of MUSASHI ENERGY WATERMELON

Energy Ingredients of MUSASHI ENERGY WATERMELON
Contains 160mg of caffeine, 1600mg of beta-alanine, 1000mg of BCAAs, 300mg of acetyl tyrosine, and 3000mg of citrulline.

Design of MUSASHI ENERGY WATERMELON

With a matte black base and a red samurai mask drawn in the flavor color, this design is packed with a cringe-worthy energy drink aesthetic.
Design of MUSASHI ENERGY WATERMELON
The samurai mask isn’t used in MUSASHI’s main line of supplements, so I assume it was designed specifically to give off a uniquely "energy drink" vibe.

Design of MUSASHI ENERGY WATERMELON
On the back, there’s a typical energy drink-style poetic blurb along with a description emphasizing its serious fitness-support energy profile.

The MUSASHI ENERGY series started out with just three flavors, but has continued to expand each year, and now stands as a recognized energy drink brand even stocked in major supermarkets.

Once the brand’s recognition becomes more solid, it might be a good idea to move away from the samurai mask and refresh the design into something cooler that better reflects its roots as a fitness supplement manufacturer.
