The inside of the can is a yellow-green color, which is different from the yellow can design, and it feels similar to the old low-calorie version. The refreshing lime scent is also the same as the previous version.

When you take a sip, the lime flavor with a subtle sweetness spreads, giving the refreshing taste of limeade.

It’s not too sweet, and the acidity doesn’t overpower the drink, making it easy to enjoy. The aftertaste is free from the usual artificial sweetener bitterness. Most people might not even realize it's a zero-sugar drink unless told.

Comparison of Old and New VENOM Citrus Flavors

During a trip to the United States in 2022, I happened to find both the new and old citrus flavors, so let’s compare them. On the left is the new zero-sugar citrus, and on the right is the old low-calorie citrus.

First, I’ll try the old low-calorie version. The base limeade flavor is the same, but the sweetness is overwhelming, with no acidity and a flat taste, resembling the typical Mountain Dew-like flavor. It was a different, sweeter citrus flavor compared to the new zero-sugar citrus.

Between the old sweet citrus-lime flavor and the new, more refreshing, balanced zero-sugar citrus-lime, it comes down to personal preference. Personally, I prefer the updated version of the zero-sugar citrus, as it offers a more refreshing taste.

Interestingly, even before the renewal, it was already sugar-free, despite the "low calorie" label.

The "zero-sugar" label definitely has a bigger impact than "low-calorie." It's surprising that it stayed under the "low-calorie" name for six years, considering the current trend of favoring sugar-free products.

The energy ingredients include 160mg of caffeine, taurine, carnitine, ginseng, and guarana, similar to the full-sugar series.

Design of VENOM ENERGY ZERO SUGAR CITRUS

The design of VENOM ENERGY ZERO SUGAR CITRUS changed significantly in 2022 as part of a brand renewal. It went from lime green to a yellowish color, making it look quite different from before.

Let’s take a look at how the citrus design has evolved.

For some reason, the design started with a spider, then shifted to a snake’s eye, and now it has turned into yellow.

Until the second design, the surface had a rough texture typical of the low-calorie version. The third design and the current one now have a smooth, standard finish.

“Lime Green” Was Replaced with Watermelon Lime for Citrus

For five years, citrus used the lime green color, but in 2022, it was changed to yellow.

This doesn’t mean that lime green has disappeared from the VENOM series entirely. In fact, the existing flavor "Watermelon Lime" was switched to lime green.

This change in main color can be a bit confusing when existing flavors also use lime green now.
