BLACK ENERGY ZERO SUGAR PARADISE
This is a review of BLACK ENERGY ZERO SUGAR PARADISE, released in 2024 with 20% fruit juice and zero sugar.
I got this in Warsaw in the spring of 2025. I visited quite a few stores, but only found it at two of them. Given that it seems to have been discontinued just a year after its release, I wasn’t expecting much from the flavor... However, when I actually tried it, I was surprised by how incredibly good it was—far beyond my expectations. Let me share the details in this review.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 8,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of BLACK ENERGY ZERO SUGAR PARADISE
As soon as I opened the can, a sweet and fruity coconut aroma burst out. I see—“PARADISE” must be a reference to tropical coconuts. Let’s give it a try.
Upon tasting it, I was surprised to find a light, tangy mix of tropical fruits like papaya, starfruit, and passion fruit—quite different from the sweet coconut scent. The aftertaste lingers with a mildly bitter flavor reminiscent of orange pulp, rather than sweetness.
Despite the strong coconut aroma at opening, there’s no coconut-like sweetness or juiciness in the taste itself. Instead, what stands out is a citrusy-bitter and refreshingly tropical fruit flavor that completely overshadows the coconut scent.
A subtle sweetness that brings out the tartness, a refreshing bitterness in the aftertaste, the naturally enveloping aroma of coconut, and a juicy mouthfeel... This is an outstanding tropical fruit mix flavor where all these elements transition seamlessly from one to the next.
What’s more, there’s absolutely no hint of artificial sweetener—most people wouldn’t even realize it’s zero sugar unless they were told.
Energy Ingredients of BLACK ENERGY ZERO SUGAR PARADISE
Contains 160mg of caffeine and 1500mg of taurine.
Although it's sugar-free, it includes 20% apple juice. Poland’s two major brands, BLACK and TIGER, often release energy drinks that achieve an impressively natural flavor without using sugar by incorporating 20% apple juice.
Design of BLACK ENERGY ZERO SUGAR PARADISE
The light blue can color likely evokes the freshness of coconut water or the bright skies and seas of a tropical paradise.
One drawback of the BLACK ENERGY series is that the designs are overly simple—only featuring flavor-themed colors without any imagery. When the flavor itself is this well-crafted, I can’t help but feel the minimalistic design doesn’t do it justice.
