In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 8,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of DZIK ENERGY CLASSIC
Upon opening the can, a refreshing and light scent of a classic flavor bursts out. It’s not overly sweet, nor does it lean toward a chemical smell—just a typical, orthodox classic aroma. Let's give it a try.
As I take a sip, a taste very similar to Red Bull Sugarfree unfolds—light and not too sweet. It perfectly embodies the European concept that "if it's sugar-free, it shouldn't taste sweet."
In Europe, there has long been a notion that "if no sugar is used, the taste should be clean and not sweet." DZIK ENERGY CLASSIC fits that idea well, featuring a flavor that represents the very essence of "sugar-free" with a moderate acidity that doesn't linger too long and a lingering aroma typical of classic flavors, all led by the taste of artificial sweeteners.
With this type of sugar-free classic flavor, the taste of artificial sweeteners often comes through too strongly, and there's a lack of umami or richness, making it difficult for me to finish the entire 500ml can without losing interest halfway through.
Energy Ingredients of DZIK ENERGY CLASSIC
Contains 200mg of caffeine, 2000mg of taurine, 100mg of ginseng, and 50mg of guarana. In Poland, this is a high-caffeine energy drink that exceeds even the major brands.
Design of DZIK ENERGY CLASSIC
The matte texture feels smooth to the touch, and the brand name is prominently displayed with a bold red wild boar pattern.
The DZIK brand logo stands out prominently. This applies not only to its energy drink series but also to its supplements and food products. The thick text logo placed over a contrasting background color enhances its visual impact. Among the energy drink series, the light blue can top is especially eye-catching, making it stand out on store shelves even among other brands.
On the side of the can, icons typical of supplement-style energy drink brands are lined up vertically.
Notably, the "+18" icon at the bottom is not simply a suggested drinking age like in other countries, but a mandatory indication under Polish law (enforced since January 2024), which prohibits the sale of high-caffeine energy drinks to those under 18.
Although I’ve never had my age checked when buying an energy drink at a staffed register, when using a self-checkout to purchase regulated drinks like DZIK or Monster Energy, the machine required staff assistance before allowing me to proceed to payment—a rare and interesting experience.
The back of the can features the DZIK logo and a brief history of the brand.
What started with four people in a basement grew into a brand through social media, and now their energy drinks—offered in various flavors—are available in supermarkets across the country. They’ve even gone as far as opening several free outdoor gyms throughout Poland, making it a true success story.
While I was in Warsaw, I often saw fitness-conscious young people drinking DZIK. The brand is also expanding into food products beyond beverages, giving me a strong sense of Poland’s youthful energy.
The tab features DZIK’s boar logo engraved on a colored tab. It seems to be used together with the light blue can top.
Since there are also cans with silver tops and silver tabs—possibly due to production shortages—I'd definitely recommend grabbing the more colorful light blue version if you get the chance.
