In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 8,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.

Flavor of GHOST ENERGY FAZE UP

Upon opening the can, a burst of citrusy aroma, mainly lime, comes through. The liquid itself is a pale green, typical of a lime-flavored drink. Let’s take a sip.
Flavor of GHOST ENERGY FAZE UP
As I take a sip, the sourness of lime spreads across my palate, accompanied by a chemical-like flavor reminiscent of American floor cleaning products.

The lime flavor tastes artificial, likely due to the lack of real juice, and doesn’t offer the freshness of natural lime. More than anything, the overwhelming impression is that of a floor cleaner used in American restaurants—an off-putting flavor to say the least.

I can't help but wonder if this overly artificial, chemical taste is actually favored by people who like unhealthy, over-the-top drinks.

As the drink warms from fridge temperature to room temperature, I gradually become accustomed to the detergent-like flavor. Although a hint of it remains in the aftertaste, it starts to taste more like a simple lime flavor over time.

That said, the detergent-like aftertaste never stopped feeling off, and I didn’t get the sense that I’d want to come back to this flavor again.

This detergent-like flavor isn’t unique to GHOST ENERGY FAZE UP—it occasionally appears as an added fragrance in other energy drinks, too. I’ve encountered it several times across different brands, and I still haven’t been able to get used to it. It just kills the desire to drink.

Energy Ingredients of GHOST ENERGY FAZE UP

Energy Ingredients of GHOST ENERGY FAZE UP
Contains 200mg of caffeine, 1000mg of taurine, 1000mg of Carnipure L-carnitine, 150mg of Alpha-GPC, 100mg of NeuroFactor, and 25mg of AstraGin—a blend of astragalus and panax notoginseng to enhance amino acid absorption.

Design of GHOST ENERGY FAZE UP

With a vibrant neon lime color, the can features camo-patterned areas with shaded, glowing effects. The 3D-like design sets it apart from other GHOST ENERGY releases—this style is unique to GHOST ENERGY FAZE UP.

The entire can is matte-finished, with glossy textures on the patterned areas, giving it a dynamic contrast in texture.

Even though the fluorescent lime color is used throughout, subtle changes in surface finish add stylish flair—GHOST does this kind of detail very well, and I think it looks great.
GHOST ENERGY FAZE UP
Like all GHOST products, the core design stays the same, but each one features original silhouette elements that reflect the product’s theme. Since this is a collaboration with FaZe Clan, you’ll find FaZe Clan logos scattered throughout.

The product name and flavor area are embossed, giving it a bold, tactile finish. You’ll also spot the red FaZe Clan logo there.

About the Collaboration Between FaZe Clan and GHOST ENERGY

In 2022, FaZe Clan ended their 10-year sponsorship with gamer-focused supplement and energy drink brand G FUEL.

After the contract ended, they began a new partnership with GHOST in 2023, leading to the release of their first collaboration drink, GHOST ENERGY FAZE POP.

In 2024, the second collaboration product, “GHOST ENERGY FAZE UP,” which is reviewed here, was released. I was expecting to see more FaZe Clan flavors from 2025 and beyond... but the partnership ended.

The popular FAZE POP was relaunched with a slight change in name and flavor as GHOST ENERGY 'MERICA POP.
