REIGN is a fitness-focused energy drink brand that launched in the United States in March 2019. At the time, bang had already captured a significant share of the U.S. energy drink market. REIGN was created to compete with bang, adopting a dark black design and high-caffeine formulation, mirroring both the look and ingredients of its rival. The brand later expanded its distribution to Canada and Europe.
Bang, the main rival, lost a lawsuit against Monster Energy and went bankrupt. Although REIGN’s biggest competitor was now absent, bang had already shifted its approach before the lawsuit, transforming from a dark-themed brand into a bright and playful one.
Many supplement brands followed this path, entering the energy drink market and ushering in a new era for the U.S. energy drink scene in the 2020s.
REIGN decided to shift away from its previously dark image.
At the time, CELSIUS had already risen to third place in market share, and to compete with it, REIGN launched the REIGN STORM series with a bright, white-centered design.
Since 2024, REIGN STORM has become the brand’s flagship line.

High-Caffeine Fitness Energy Drinks
In March 2019, a high-caffeine energy drink containing 300mg of caffeine was launched in the U.S. This fitness-oriented energy drink, a new brand from Monster Energy, entered the territory of Bang Energy, which rapidly expanded its share in the U.S. market.
The brand has since expanded into Canada and Europe, competing with the Bang series in markets outside the U.S.
In the U.S., the brand's promotion focuses more on hardcore fitness enthusiasts, including bodybuilders, Ironman athletes, and weightlifters. It has steadily gained recognition as a serious fitness energy drink brand. The brand has done a good job leveraging top icons from these worlds.
Not only in stores, but even in fitness-related venues in 2019 and 2020, it was clear that the brand was gaining momentum.
Three years after its release, the brand has expanded its flavor offerings and is now chasing after Bang, which is well ahead in this sector.
