Released in May 2024. This is a review of BIG SHOCK CELEBRATE YOUR LIFE BLOOD ORANGE, a limited-edition product launched for the summer of 2024.

The Summer Edition for 2024 was released under the theme “Big Shock! Celebration 2024,” with two flavors launched simultaneously. I picked this one up right after its release during my visit to the Czech Republic in July 2024.

When opened, it releases a sweet, tangy, and slightly bitter aroma characteristic of bitter orange. The transparent red liquid, combined with its bitter and fruity scent, brings to mind Aperol or Campari. Now, let’s give it a try.

As you take a sip, a light and smooth bitter orange and blood orange flavor spreads in your mouth. While the bitterness is pronounced, the sweetness and richness are fairly light, so it doesn’t quite have that deep blood orange flavor profile.

Since this is a half-sugar version rather than full-sugar, it features a clear, easy-to-drink mouthfeel.

I believe opinions will vary depending on whether you're looking for a rich sweetness and bitterness typical of blood orange, or a more refreshing, easy-to-drink option.

My recommended way to enjoy it is with plenty of ice.

The sweetness of the orange fades, while the moderate bitterness of the bitter orange enhances a refreshing and cooling taste. The clear mouthfeel typical of half-sugar drinks really shines when you add ice.

When drunk at room or cold temperature, you may focus too much on the "richness" or "umami" of the flavor, so having it over ice is definitely the best choice.

Although the design features many artistic elements, I wasn’t quite sure what the word “CELEBRATE” was meant to signify.

Wondering if BIG SHOCK was commemorating something, I looked into it and found that their 20th anniversary was actually in 2023, so it seems “CELEBRATE” isn’t referring to any specific event.
