Released in October 2024. This is a review of "BIG SHOCK VENOM," a collaboration product with the movie "Venom: The Last Dance."

When I traveled to the Czech Republic in the spring of 2025, I happened to come across a store that still had BIG SHOCK VENOM in stock and was lucky enough to pick one up. The collaboration campaign between BIG SHOCK and VENOM ended on December 31, 2024, so finding remaining stock the following spring felt like a real stroke of luck.

So, what flavor would you imagine from this bold red-and-black design? Let’s crack it open and find out.

Upon opening the can, a citrus-like aroma bursts out, with a bitter note reminiscent of oranges and grapefruit. Now, let’s take a sip.

When I take a sip, I get a fresh, juicy bitterness with mild sweetness and gentle acidity. It is unmistakably pink grapefruit.

The experience begins with a refreshing citrus aroma, followed by a gentle sweetness that softens the acidity and bitterness. Then, a crisp acidity and bitterness linger on the finish. Finally, a fresh citrus aroma softly wraps everything up, creating a complex flavor that gradually evolves. This drinking experience is personally very much to my liking.

On the official BIG SHOCK website, the flavor of BIG SHOCK VENOM is described as "an explosive mix of papaya and passion fruit," but in reality, it does not taste like a tropical, tangy flavor at all. Instead, it comes across as an exceptionally well-crafted pink grapefruit flavor.

It contains 160 mg of caffeine and 2,000 mg of taurine. The sugar content is about half that of a typical full-sugar energy drink, resulting in lower calories. Recently, half-sugar formulas have been becoming more common in Europe.

This is a collaboration product with the movie "Venom: The Last Dance," featuring a jet-black can with a large illustration of Venom and a striking red-and-black color scheme.

In particular, the contrast between the red line around the top of the can and the black top, along with the overall color balance with BIG SHOCK’s red logo, is perfectly executed, successfully blending the movie’s world with a classic energy drink aesthetic.

This collaboration also featured a giveaway campaign, offering prizes such as a Sony 75-inch TV, portable audio devices, and movie tickets. In Europe, campaigns with such generous prizes feel fairly common.

When I visited the Czech Republic in 2025, more than six months had already passed since the release of BIG SHOCK VENOM, and most stores were sold out.

Even so, I was lucky enough to find it at a small shop in the suburbs. Just when I was about to give up, I managed to get one through my own efforts.

The rush of adrenaline I felt the moment I found BIG SHOCK VENOM once again reminded me that this kind of excitement can only be experienced by traveling to the location and hunting for it in person. Searching for limited-edition products while traveling abroad remains one of the great joys for energy drink enthusiasts.
