When I take a sip, a sweet fruit punch candy–like flavor spreads across the palate. There is no juiciness or acidity reminiscent of pineapple flesh, and calling this a pineapple flavor feels a bit forced.

It is a candy flavor made from a mix of several fruit notes, and describing it as a juice-free tropical candy flavor reminiscent of guava, pineapple, peach, and papaya would make the taste easier to imagine.

Based on the can color, I had imagined something like a piña colada–style flavor, but that expectation turned out to be completely off the mark. Because it lacks real fruit richness, it was easier to drink with ice rather than at refrigerator temperature.

With ice added, the pineapple character fades even further, transforming into a flavor closer to guava.

As a pineapple flavor, it is quite underwhelming, but as a sugar-sweetened candy flavor, it is well put together. Depending on what kind of taste one imagines from the product name "ROCKSTAR PUNCHED PINEAPPLE MIRAGE" and the can design, post-drink impressions are likely to vary greatly based on the gap between expectations and reality.

Using turquoise blue as the main color, combined with the yellow of pineapple flesh, the design gives a bright and fresh impression and really stands out on store shelves. It might be a color scheme inspired by a bright blue midsummer pool and pineapple juice.

Starting in 2024, Rockstar in Canada made a slight design change, placing the flavor name on the front of the can. This can be considered a major improvement, as it was previously impossible to tell the flavor at a glance from the front.

On the other hand, the brand name and series name are still placed on the left and right sides, and unfortunately, these design issues continue to remain.
