When I tried it, I thought it would taste the same as last year's Ice Cool Kiwi, but in fact, it was completely different. My first impression was a strong caramel flavor... There was no hint of kiwi at all. (^_^;)

After noticing the caramel flavor, I took a moment to check the aroma, and surprisingly, I could sense a strong kiwi-like scent. However, it seems like this is just because I expected a kiwi flavor, and in reality, it had more of a perfume-like, strong fragrance. As I continued drinking, I realized that the kiwi flavor was very faint.

The aftertaste that lingers in the mouth is purely caramel. Even though you'd expect a bit of the tartness and sweetness from kiwi, you can't feel that at all. The 2016 Ice Cool Kiwi is quite disappointing. Even with just 250ml, it felt hard to drink.

Comparison of HELL ENERGY ICE COOL 2015 and 2016

In 2015 and 2016, the Ice Cool series released the kiwi flavor. Why did they release the same flavor back-to-back?

I decided to compare them. The left can is from the 2015 release, and the right can is from the 2016 release. The colors are nearly identical. It’s hard to tell apart by appearance.

However, the taste is clearly different. The 2015 kiwi flavor had a fresh, fruity taste, with a more apple-kiwi flavor that was easy to drink. It was similar to products like Boston America's Sonic. It’s not purely kiwi, but more of an apple-style kiwi.

On the other hand, the 2016 kiwi flavor is overwhelmingly strong with artificial caramel and perfume-like scents and flavors. It’s hard to even call it a kiwi flavor. If you drank it without knowing what it was, most people wouldn't even guess it was supposed to taste like kiwi.

There was a clear difference in flavor between 2015 and 2016. The 2016 kiwi seems to have missed the mark. If you drink it without thinking it’s kiwi, some people might enjoy it, but those who bought the 2016 version based on the memory of the 2015 flavor would have been shocked.

The design is nearly identical, to the point where you might confuse the countries where they were released. Honestly, even Drin-kun wouldn't be able to tell which year the kiwi is from. (^_^;)
