Released on May 28, 2024, the renewed HYPER ZONe features a refreshed flavor and updated package design. Since the product name remains the same, I’ll refer to this version as "ALL NEW" for clarity in this review.

When opened, a sweet, chemical-like aroma typical of classic energy drinks bursts out. The liquid inside is a bright, transparent yellow reminiscent of a vitamin drink. Let's give it a try.

As you take a sip, you’re greeted with a light and refreshing sweet-and-sour flavor that fits the classic energy drink profile. The intense aroma, with a faint chemical note, lingers pleasantly.

Though the flavor is strong, it doesn’t feel heavy. Instead, it’s the powerful fragrance that gives it that intensity. Like previous ZONe originals, the use of strong flavoring is prominent.

On the other hand, the sourness is quite mild. Since both the taste and aroma are centered around sweetness, it may lack some of the refreshing bite you’d expect. In terms of flavor direction, it leans more towards Monster Energy than Red Bull.

There’s no actual chemical aftertaste—it seems to be recreated through flavorings—making it accessible to a wide range of fans who enjoy the classic energy drink flavor.

According to the press release, a pre-launch consumer survey showed a 17% increase in positive responses like “very delicious” or “delicious” compared to before the renewal, calling it the most awakening taste in ZONe’s history and a complete evolution.

Globally, it’s not uncommon for original flavors of energy drink brands to undergo multiple updates, but it is rare for a brand to announce major renewals each time.

While frequent renewals allow for press releases and make in-store promotions easier as if launching a new product, overemphasizing these changes could give the impression that the brand’s identity—especially its original flavor—is unstable. It might be a double-edged sword.
