Flavor of ZONe FIREWALL

The greenish color coming from the red can is surprising. Despite the bright red can, the contents are green... It looks completely different from the impression before pouring into the glass.

When you take a sip, a smooth and creamy sweetness and aroma hit you. It tastes like melon candy or melon cream soda, but since there’s no accent or change in flavor and aroma, it ends up feeling like drinking a sweet beverage without being sure of what flavor it is. The more you savor it, the further you move from finding an answer.

If the creamy and sweet aroma were a bit stronger, it might feel more like melon cream soda, but the lack of punch makes it hard to grasp the flavor characteristics, and the artificial sweetness continues without change, which may get a bit tiresome over 500ml.

It’s not overwhelmingly sweet, but it might be easier to drink if you add ice to dilute the flavor a bit Σ(´∀｀；)

Energy Ingredients of ZONe FIREWALL

It contains 75mg of caffeine, 500mg of arginine, and 5g of palatinose. It has 250mg less arginine than the ZONe Energy Original Ver. 1.0.0 released at the same time.

ZONe Original, which transitioned from the beta version (ZONe β ver. 0.8.5) to Ver. 1.0.0, saw an increase in arginine, but for some reason, the FIREWALL reviewed here hasn't changed in that regard.

The caffeine content is on the lower side. It's even less than the 80mg found in a 185ml Red Bull, so there's no need to worry about caffeine addiction. Drinking multiple 500ml cans of ZONe FIREWALL in a short period would be impossible anyway.

As I mentioned in the review of ZONe Original ver. 1.0.0, while this product may appear to be aimed at digital natives, it doesn't contain any smart ingredients or components geared towards improving game performance, so you can’t expect such effects.

Even though it doesn’t have significant effects, it's always interesting when a product aligns even slightly with its concept, so it’s a bit disappointing to see that this aspect remains the same as the beta version.

Design of ZONe FIREWALL

A bright red can with a glowing blue and white power icon. The name FIREWALL fits the digital-centric image of the product, making the packaging visually appealing.

On the back of the can, ZONe's "ultra-immersive energy drink" image, QR codes, and social media logos are lined up.

I personally like the simple design with no poetic lines that are often found on energy drink cans.

Then, with the nationwide release of ZONe Original ver. 1.0.0, a black top and black tab were introduced. This color combination hadn’t been used on Japanese energy drinks before, making it look more like an energy drink.

That said, the addition of black as an accent color in the red can design could have made it more fitting. With this design of ver. 1.0.0, a red top and red tab would have worked just as well.

ZONe Energy Drink has successfully gained attention through collaborations with many famous personalities on social media. It will be interesting to see whether they can maintain their shelf space and keep their customer base coming back.
