Red Bull APPLE EDITION Japan Ver.

Released on October 20, 2026, Red Bull Apple Edition is now available in Japan.

It is the permanent release of Red Bull Winter Edition 2025 Apple Flavor, which first appeared on October 28, 2025.

The flavor itself remains unchanged from the previous release, but the flavor name printed on the can has changed from “Apple” to “Apple Ginger.” This makes the flavor profile more accurately reflect what you can expect from the drink.

While the flavor became a permanent addition to the lineup in overseas markets around spring 2026, its release in Japan came a little later. However, the Japanese version features a complete redesign, with a striking all-red look unique to Japan.

Let’s take a closer look at Japan’s Apple Edition, now sporting this eye-catching new design.

Flavor of Red Bull Apple Edition (Japan)

When I open the can, a sweet and refreshing apple aroma spreads out, followed by a subtle hint of ginger. It has a pleasant aroma without the spicy kick typically associated with ginger. Now, let me give it a taste.

The sweet apple flavor spreads across my palate, followed by a gentle ginger aroma that leaves a pleasant aftertaste.

The apple flavor has a refreshing sweetness that isn't overly concentrated or too much like real fruit. Balanced with a subtle hint of ginger, it makes for a well-rounded apple ginger flavor.

The balance is roughly 9:1 in favor of apple over ginger. Unless you're particularly sensitive to the heat or sharpness of spices, the ginger should be enjoyable as a subtle accent.

On the other hand, because the ginger flavor is so mild, it may come across as out of place or introduce an unwanted note amid the aroma and flavor of fresh apple flesh.

Design of Red Bull Apple Edition (Japan)

As the name suggests, the design is simple, with red as the main color, reminiscent of a ripe apple.

This Apple Edition is now a permanent addition to the lineup, with the same formula as the Winter Edition released as a limited edition in winter 2025.

When Red Bull's seasonal editions become permanent products, they generally retain the original formula and design, with only the product name changing. The Apple Edition released overseas followed this pattern, keeping the Winter Edition design and changing only the product name.

The Japanese Apple Edition, however, is an unusual case, with the color of the entire can changed as well.

The flavor name printed on the can has also changed from “Apple Flavor,” used for the Winter Edition, to “Apple Ginger Flavor.”

Overseas versions were labeled “Apple Ginger” from the start, accurately reflecting the actual flavor. Since the taste was the same, I initially found it odd that the Japanese Winter Edition deliberately left ginger out of the flavor name.

With its transition to a permanent product, the flavor name has now been updated to “Apple Ginger,” more accurately reflecting the actual taste. It's a sensible change that brings the labeling in line with what you'd expect from the drink.
