The 2024 summer limited edition released in Austria has been made a regular product under the name Red Bull LIME GREEN EDITION.

In the United States, the largest market for energy drinks, the previously available Red Bull GREEN EDITION Dragon Fruit has been discontinued and replaced with the new Red Bull GREEN EDITION Curuba Elderflower. As a result, the Dragon Fruit flavor has disappeared from the U.S. market.

Meanwhile in Austria, the Dragon Fruit flavor—now discontinued in the U.S.—is still available, and the 2024 summer edition has been introduced as the Lime Green Edition, allowing both to be sold side by side. Since both are among the most delicious Red Bull flavors, this approach is highly commendable.

Incidentally, the 2024 summer edition has also been made a regular product under the name "Lime Green Edition" in Belgium and Spain. In countries like the Czech Republic, Ireland, and the UK, it has been regularized under the name "Green Edition," just like in the U.S.

Since “LIME GREEN EDITION” has more characters than can comfortably fit on a 250ml can, I imagine there was some debate over what name would be most appropriate—whether to go with a color edition or a flavor edition.

In countries like Austria, Belgium, and Spain, both versions are being sold simultaneously by branding the new product as “Red Bull LIME GREEN EDITION” instead of discontinuing the existing Green Edition. That’s definitely a welcome move!

In many other countries, however, one or both versions have been discontinued.

Perhaps the concept of Curuba and elderflower wasn’t easy to convey in some markets? If the can design had incorporated a more visual representation of Curuba’s juicy pulp or the essence of elderflower, things might have turned out differently. The current minimalist design based solely on color coding feels like such a missed opportunity.
