This is a review of Red Bull Cherry Edition Sakuranbo Flavor, released on March 31, 2026.

It features the same flavor as the spring-limited "Spring Edition 2026 Cherry Sakura" released globally.

Interestingly, in the UK, even though it was still before the start of spring as of March following the Spring Edition release, the Cherry Edition was already being sold as a regular lineup. From this, it seems possible that the Cherry Edition may expand beyond Japan as well.

When I open the can, a sweet and rich banana-like aroma spreads out. Huh? Is this really a cherry flavor…? It’s completely different from what I was expecting. Now, let me take a sip.

On the palate, a smooth and mellow fruity taste centered around sweet banana spreads out, clearly განსხვავ from a typical cherry flavor.

The aftertaste has a clean acidity and refreshing aroma that almost comes across like an apple flavor.

Interestingly, when this was released overseas ahead of Japan, quite a few people described it as tasting like banana. Before trying it myself, I assumed it couldn’t really be banana… but after tasting it, I can see why. It’s definitely convincing as a banana-like flavor.

Of course, it’s not a simple single-note banana flavor. It feels more accurate to describe it as a banana & apple flavor.

If I had to somehow describe this as a "cherry flavor"…

It might be closest to those syrup-soaked cherries commonly used as toppings in Japan, dyed bright red all the way to the stem. That might just barely make sense.

Adding plenty of ice enhances the refreshing feel and tones down the sweetness, so it’s probably best enjoyed over lots of ice in spring and summer.

Even with ice, it doesn’t really come across as cherry, but it can be enjoyed as a refreshing fruit mix with hints of apple, apricot, and a touch of peach.
